Undertow

Kerrang! 4/5 Like The God Machine and Mind Funk, the children of Perry Farrell have arrived, and Tool are definitely at the front of the pack.

Rolling Stone 3.5/5 Adam Jones' guitar playing discards traditional solos in favor of texture, the stranger the better, while drummer Danny Carey steers the band through a maze of tempo shifts with dazzling agility.

All Music 4/5 With its technical brilliance, musical complexities, and aggressive overtones, Undertow not only paved the way for several bands to break through to the mainstream adolescent mall-rage demographic, it also proved that metal could be simultaneously intelligent, emotional, and brutal.
