The General
Haiku Salut's original score for Buster Keaton's 1926 comedy classic The General. The album has 23 tracks and is 80 minutes long. Towards the end of 2018, Haiku Salut were commissioned to write a new, original score to Buster Keaton's The General. They spent two months tinkering and composing in their studio in the peak district, and greeted the new year with a 80 minute score. It was debuted in Belfast at the start of January, and since then they've done Buster shows in Nottingham, Derby and Stamford. It’s an amazing score that takes in elements of electronica, post rock, and neo-classical, and it’s a very emotional experience seeing the band set a comedy classic in an entirely new light. They find moments of drama and heartbreak in a much-loved comedy film, and transform the tone and feel of the movie by placing a black and white silent film alongside a contemporary soundtrack of glitches, soaring post rock, and beautiful piano pieces.
