As with the album that spawned it, this remix collection celebrates Beth Orton\'s unique position in British music. On outtakes like “Ali\'s Waltz” and “Beautiful World”, she demonstrates her affinity for dusky acoustic numbers with a stubborn beauty. She wasn\'t the 2000s\' edgiest artist, but the widespread respect for her craft is evinced here by remixes from Four Tet and Roots Manuva—the latter turns “Destroyer” into a hypnotic dub number. Best of all is a live rendition of “Concrete Sky”, which showcases the affecting talent at the heart of these diverse interpretations.

Singer/songwriter Beth Orton freshened up the somber spirit of her 2002 effort Daybreaker with The Other Side of Daybreak.

The Other Side of Daybreak takes Orton’s customary mixing of folk-rock songwriting and electronic studio wizardry to a literal level.
