Backstreet Boys were poised for superstardom at the end of the ‘90s, and the confections of *Millennium* launched them into the boy-band pop stratosphere. The lush yet longing “I Want It That Way,” with its glossy textures and triumphant chorus, set the standard for the genre’s anthems; “Larger Than Life” balances a killer hook with gratitude to the group’s fans; and ballads like “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely” and “Back to Your Heart” showcase the quintet’s sparkling harmonies and sweet romanticism.
