Sound In Silence proudly welcomes to its roster Wil Bolton with his new album Whorl. For more than ten years Wil Bolton has worked with sound, sometimes enhanced with video and photography. His work has been shown in many exhibitions and festivals and he has worked on projects with video artists, choreographers and dancers. He is co-owner of the electronic label Boltfish Recordings while in the past he has released his music on numerous labels under the name Cheju. From time to time he has also collaborated with other soundlike musicians on projects like Ashlar, Le Moors, Anzio Green, The Ashes Of Piemonte, Wil & Tarl, Biotron Shelf and others. He is considered one of the most interesting ambient composers of nowadays and his latest releases under his own name, on labels like Home Normal, Hibernate Recordings, Rural Colours, Time Released Sound and Cathedral Transmissions, have received great reviews worldwide. Wil Bolton’s eighth full-length album Whorl consists of five long-form tracks of warm melodies and analogue drones, with a total duration of 38 minutes. Acoustic manipulation of piano and subtle electronics, including effects pedals, loopers and laptop processing, blend together with environmental sounds, resulting in a sublime melancholic ambient album. The mastering of Whorl has been done by George Mastrokostas (aka Absent Without Leave), highlighting Wil Bolton’s delicate minimal sounds, balanced by atmospheric field recordings. This is a limited edition of 200 handmade and hand-numbered collectible copies, packaged in a lovely hand-stamped green recycled cardboard envelope with the front cover image printed on a polaroid style photo paper.
