Tv En Français
TV en Français is the fourth studio album by We Are Scientists.
When they aren't trying to recreate their own history, TV En Francais offers pleasant programming... Comme ci, comme ça.
Picking up where 2010's Barbara left off, We Are Scientists' fifth studio album, 2014's TV en Français, is a refreshing blast of power that finds the band further exploring their own brand of melodic guitar-based songcraft.
The inexplicably titled TV en Français is, supposedly, the fourth studio LP from New York indie buds We Are Scientists (if we ignore 2002’s quirky, loveable bastard Safety, Fun, and Learning (In That Order)). The formula hit upon by With Love and Squalor, their 2005 breakout album, is maintained here: ruminations on romance and the human condition, delivered in tight parcels of riffy hooks, reassuring chord structures, and Keith Murray’s charged vocal.
We Are Scientists are funny, but their music feels as though it's about six years too late, writes Tshepo Mokoena
