Don't Follow Me Because I'm Lost Too!!
At 75 tracks and two-and-a-half hours, *Don’t Follow Me Because I’m Lost Too!!* doesn’t pretend to be concise. If anything, you get the feeling Vegyn (the British producer and Frank Ocean collaborator born Joe Thornalley) dumped his creative purse on the table and called it a day. But part of the fun of the project is how loose and fragmentary it is, like a good scroll through the digiverse or cracking doors to worlds we only briefly glimpse: toylike trap (“I wanna mode this yah know,” “Perfect Tragedy”), ’90s-style glitch (“Smiley Smile Smiley”), video-game ambience (“SErving BIG Time”), and lo-fi club music (“Energy B Thru”)—all of it cute but a little sinister, warm but a little warped. You don’t listen to this music for its conclusions, but for its suggestions. The tracklist is alphabetical; try it on shuffle.
