The Night Creeper
Splattered with nods to slasher flicks and pulp horror, *The Night Creeper* chronicles the depraved life of a Jack the Ripper-style killer and drug fiend—an oppressive portrait of homicidal delirium rendered in doomy psychedelia. Hypnotic like a funeral toll, “Downtown” brings to life the vice-infested underworld in which the Night Creeper finds his prey. “Murder Nights” goes in for the kill as icy harmonies slice through the cruelly plodding groove. The bad trip winds down with “Slow Death,” which is every bit as gloomy as the title promises.
