Carving a path between ambient and shoegaze, Tycho\'s *Dive* flows like a mighty river. Befitting the album\'s home on the Ghostly label, gleaming synths guide the music\'s path, particularly on the slow breakbeat cut \"Adrift\" and the wistful IDM tune \"Epigram.\" But guitars play an even greater role: On \"A Walk,\" harmonics flash like sunbeams, and on the gorgeous \"Coastal Brake,\" acoustic finger-picking serves as a wistful counterpoint to arpeggiated keys and ringing echoes. Beneath all those wispy accents, muscular electric bass serves as a satisfyingly heavy anchor.
Electronic producer Scott Hansen builds a subtle album heavy on warm synths and serene beauty that at its best evokes the work of Boards of Canada and Bibio.
