Tindersticks’ new album is a commissioned piece for a World War One museum in Ypres, Belgium, composed to accompany visitors as they make their way through the institution. The mood is somber and inward facing, with moments of beauty and light scattered throughout.

Ypres is notable for, more than any other Tindersticks effort, indulging an avant-classical ambition.
