Live With The Danish National Chamber Orchestra
After churning out six studio albums, singer/songwriter Tina Dico delivers an over-the-top live album of performances with The Danish National Chamber Orchestra. “True North” opens with Dico’s androgynous voice standing strong over a majestic-sounding ensemble grandiose enough for an episode of *Game of Thrones*. The following “Sacre Coeur” sounds similarly dramatic. Where the song\'s original version (on her 2007 album *Count to Ten*) plays with folk-rock trimmings, here it sounds somewhat similar to “The Storm That Brought You to Me,” which she cowrote and performed for the 2010 remake of *Clash of the Titans*. She incorporates her love for folk music in the wistful “In Love & War,” where the string section plays more sublime elements next to fluttering flute parts and a brass section. At just less than two minutes, the instrumental “Moment of Bliss” sounds like the orchestra is exhaling in slow motion before sitting out the closing number, a seven-and-a-half minute rendition of “The Road” where guitar, piano, and vocal harmonies are Dico’s only accompaniment.
