Pitchfork 8.0/10 On his first album for Matador, Nate Amos trades the magpie charm of his past solo work for a warm, twangy, and tightly constructed approach. It’s the sound of a songwriter sketching out his own gospel.

NME 4/5 The genre-hopping songwriter trades leftfield twists for bright alt-country, delivering his warmest, most assured record yet.

All Music 4.5/5 While The Singer in My Band may not be the out-of-the-blue surprise [Box for Buddy, Box for Star] was for many, it shares the feeling of a generational talent coming into his own.

Spectrum Culture 50% The Singer in My Band is quite pleasant to listen to but lacks adventure.
