Hell Together
Since buying back their catalog from Warner Music Canada in 2024, The Sheepdogs have been basking in the freedom of being their own bosses. After launching their own Right On Records imprint with the release of August’s *Paradise Alone* EP, the Saskatoon Southern-rockers swiftly issued an autumnal companion in the form of *Hell Together*. The six songs here favor a more relaxed and rootsy sound, but are still rich in texture and groove: “My Home Is Burning” taps into the nocturnal vibe of the Allman Brothers’ “Midnight Rider,” but the group’s beaming harmonies and flickering guitar leads light up the dark sky like the aurora borealis. And even when they’re laying off the high-voltage riffs, the band’s vocals—which hit peak radiance on the soulful country-rocker “The Working Man” and the “Lyin’ Eyes”-style hooks of “Jeroboam”—still make every song feel like stepping into a packed bar where everyone knows your name.
