With its mix of rustic lullabies and blown-out rockers, the Men’s eighth album is the work of a proudly counter-intuitive band pushing to new extremes.

Mercy is the Men's third consecutive album with the same lineup, but as ever, the Brooklyn-based group never stays in the same place stylistically.

The album boasts a few moments of exploration but seems more staid in its ambitions.
