Long Island’s D’Addario brothers craft another lush, ambitious patchwork of their favorite sounds of the ’60s and ’70s. On *Brothers of Destruction*, they’re both gorgeously simple (“Beautiful”) and dizzyingly complex—“Night Song” sets the tone for its erratic stumble through baroque pop, dark psychedelia, and prog rock with the opening line “I think I went a little nuts at the grocery store.” Most satisfyingly, “Why Didn’t You Say That?” and “Light and Love” suggest the duo are increasingly willing to let their terrific melodies play out before stuffing them down multiple wormholes.

The theatricality and humour of The Lemon Twigs lifts their heavily referenced work into modern day relevance.
