It’s been three years since The FAIM’s breakthrough debut *State of Mind*, which established the Perth band among the burgeoning crop of fresh Australian rock acts to watch. Now, on *Talk Talk*, the four-piece reaffirms their eclectic songwriting strengths. Across its 11 tracks, *Talk Talk* maintains pace—the album’s highest peaks come with soaring rhythms (“Life in a Cinema”) and melodies (“Ease My Mind”), built around the lead vocals of Josh Raven. Elsewhere, “Faith in Me” is all power-pop vocals and early-2000s Panic! At the Disco vibes. And “The Alchemist” showcases the group’s use of mood and contrast, leaning into woozy romanticism and adopting a dreamy pop arrangement as Raven sings about that feeling when someone enters your life and changes absolutely everything. Considering the creative team behind the album, it’s no surprise that its core sound is born from the same stylistic palette driving some of the biggest rock-pop names of the past couple decades. The album, recorded between Los Angeles and Perth, saw the band work with a talented roster of producers including Zakk Cervini (Bring Me The Horizon, YUNGBLUD), Erik Ron (Panic! At the Disco, Set It Off), and Matthew Pauling (5 Seconds of Summer, State Champs).
