Darker Days
“In what seems like another lifetime – because it was another lifetime – The Connells, with Don Dixon, Rod Abernathy, Dave Adams and Steve Gronback variously at the controls, recorded the 9 songs that pretty much constituted the extent of their repertoire to that point, and titled it Darker Days. 35 years later, the band is excited that Darker Days is available digitally for the first time since it was recorded in 1985. The fact that it is exclusively part of Bandcamp Friday makes it that much sweeter.” Mike Connell - The Connells With an original line up consisting of David Connell (bass), Michael Connell (guitar), George Huntley (guitar, keyboards, avocals), Doug MacMillan (vocals) and Peele Wimberly (drums), The Connells started recording music in the autumn of 1984 with the help of producer Don Dixon. An early version of the album’s title track was included on a mix that caught the eye of Elvis Costello, who released the album on his UK label Demon Records. The album was released in the US by the band’s own label, Black Park Records.
