Good Timin: Live At Knebworth, England 1980
By 1980, Brian Wilson rarely took the stage with The Beach Boys, and it was a rare moment when he joined brothers Carl and Dennis along with Mike Love, Al Jardine, and Bruce Johnston for a live concert. The other band members sing \"Happy Birthday\" to Brian, whose 38th birthday had been the previous day. This recording of the last time these six Beach Boys took the stage in the U.K. is an inspired one. The Beach Boys were promoting their new album, *Keepin\' the Summer Alive*, but focused on their hits of the \'60s and early \'70s, only performing the new album\'s title cut. The band members hold their own, with just a few musicians augmenting their sound. They smash through Chuck Berry tunes, along with such early songs as \"Be True to Your School,\" \"Little Deuce Coupe,\" \"Surfer Girl,\" and \"Help Me Rhonda,\" along with their daring mid-\'60s tunes such as \"God Only Knows,\" \"Heroes and Villains,\" and \"Good Vibrations.\" Dennis Wilson\'s encore moment is a gentle rendition of the Joe Cocker hit \"You Are So Beautiful,\" which he had cowritten with Billy Preston in 1974.
