Psychedelic Rock

Spiritczualic Enhancement Center - an eclectic outernational musical collective - describe themselves as a “spectral trance-jazz ensemble with a psychedelic-punk methodology.” Landing on Kryptox, Carpet Album is their 4th record, compiling material recorded over the last years in the capitals of Romania and Czech Republic, inside a church in Hamburg and while staying with a commune in rural Denmark. Their live shows are wild happenings and their studio sessions are improvised rituals. The sound is an atmospheric and mystical fusion of synthesizers, self-built electronics, traditional instruments and a sprawling rhythm section, “reminiscent of Miles Davis at his most abstract” (Norman Records). Referring to it as a “head-hunting tapestry woven with the tonal colors of music,” the album was created by 18 artists with roots from Germany, Japan, Israel, Iran, USA, Turkey, Iraq, Denmark, Poland, Philippines, UK, Russia, Moldova, Romania, Czech Republic, Montenegro and Macedonia. Spiritczualic’s hypnotic music is deeply psychedelic, but not in a Prog or Indie way. Inspired by the 1970s electrified universe of Herbie Hancock, Joe Zawinul and Frank Zappa, they meditate on sonic spectrums hoping to achieve “chaotic relief”. After being remotely overdubbed despite the lockdowns, the songs were mixed in an old empty villa in Nice, by the Côte d'Azur and along Istria’s Adriatic coast. In case you’ll one day have a chance to see the band live - don't miss it! Since their formation in 2017, they have performed in twelve countries, including festivals such as Fusion, Outernational Days, Camp Cosmic and Copenhagen Jazz Festival. Their explosive live performances and three previous releases (on Kinship, Akuphone and Crash Symbols) have created a buzz around the band. Gilles Peterson called the group an “incredible act which he'd love to see live”. And none other than Damo Suzuki of CAN is a fan, having already joined them on stage. “9/10 Simply not be missed” - Future Music Magazine “Giving .. mad-jazz labels .. a run for their money” - The ArtsDesk “Full-on exotic futurism” - Electronic Sound “Artists intent on looking to the future” - Gigwise “As if Miles Davis sat down in a time-machine” - Neølyd “Frankly, psychedelic as fuck” - BackSeat Mafia “Sonic alchemy of the highest esoteric order” - Gonzo Karaoke “Really unique .. avantgarde tinged kraut-jazz” - Progarchives “Uncompromising in their quest for the wildest of wig-outs” - Ban Ban Ton Ton “Epic parts that sound almost post-rock in their cinematic breadth” - Glitterhouse “[Their] most intricate musical tapestry yet” - Norman Records “A spirited expression that seems to exalt the musical landscape” - Komeda “With the Sun Ra generator towards Andromeda to then implode again” - Schnüss “I find their music to be ineffable” - Fragmented Flaneur
