Ride of the Hoof
This album is a huge improvement from the already-awesome “Zigurat“, so it looks like they will only get better from here. Sergeant Thunderhoof has definitely put in the time and has the talent to be the next big thing in Stoner Rock, so be sure to check them out, because you will hear this name again. morefuzz.net/reviews/sergeant-thunderhoof-ride-hoof/ ________________________________________ This is the second album from this band, being their follow up to 2014’s Zigurat and it is a monolithic testament that successfully sets the guys apart from much of the rehashings currently taking place in this genre. I believe this is one of 2015’s best releases, metalnexus.net/sergeant-thunderhoof-ride-of-the-hoof-review/ ________________________________________ Throughout this album there is a great tightness to the musicianship and no matter which avenue they choose to explore next, the band keep up with each other in perfect symbiosis. Reminiscent of Iron Maiden at their peak, Sergeant Thunderhoof are more than willing to introduce more progressive concepts into their music to keep things interesting. Old fashioned it may well be, but it certainly makes for a fun ride. It’s often difficult to stand out from the crowd with music like this and with standards being so high at the moment you really have to tip your hat to Sergeant Thunderhoof who leave you begging for more. If the sign of a good album is its ability to make you return for repeated listens then Ride Of The Hoof is definitely going to be a mainstay on your record player. Faultless in delivery, it may be let down by moments of small naivety, but on the whole it’s a quite fantastic release. Highly recommended, you may find yourself hooked and wanting to come back for more. echoesanddust.com/2015/11/sergeant-thunderhoof-ride-of-the-hoof/ ________________________________________ Ride Of The Hoof is superbly produced. It’s perhaps one of the best produced albums I’ve heard this year from the UK Stoner Rock/Metal scene. It sounds amazing from the start. My final thoughts of the album is that's a creative, intelligent, often humorous album that’s packed full of wonder and adventure. Sergeant Thunderhoof have excelled themselves here. Excellent and Highly Recommended. outlawsofthesun.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/sergeant-thunderhoof-ride-of-hoof-album.html ________________________________________ Ride of the Hoof may be caught up in a sweeping new wave of British doom that’s seen the likes of Alunah, Greenhorn and Undersmile rise to the crest, but with songwriting like this so early into their trajectory, it won’t be long before Sergeant Thunderhoof can be counted among these ranks. Ride on through the streets of Bath! brokenamp.com/sergeant-thunderhoof-ride-of-the-hoof/ ________________________________________ There's a huge amount to enjoy here over the course of the albums 50 minutes; Dan's vocals complimenting the crunching riffs from Mark Sayer, and then theres the Psychrock grooves. Ride of the Hoof is highly recommended. atomheartmutha.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/album-reviewsergeant-thunderhoof-ride.html ________________________________________ Got your order of beer and pretzels metal, right here. This is exactly the sort of riff-pounding, bong-rocking metal you need blasting at any party. You honestly won’t care that it’s not the deepest of records; when you have a case of beers to get through, you don’t exactly want a case of the feels. It’s pretty well impossible to hate an album when its biggest fault is that it’s not a thought-provoking chin-scratcher. metalshopped.wordpress.com/tag/sergeant-thunderhoof/ ________________________________________
