Body Talk
Robyn had long since emancipated herself from teen-pop by the time she released her seventh album. But *Body Talk*’s real triumph comes from its blend of blunt statements of intent (“Don’t F\*\*\*\*\*g Tell Me What to Do,” “None of Dem”) with naked vulnerability. The wearily triumphant “Dancing On My Own” and the green-eyed “Call Your Girlfriend” speak to the longing that drives people to the dance floor; “Dancehall Queen” and “U Should Know Better” provide the pulsing template for catharsis.
Compiling tunes from the two early Body Talk mini-LPs and adding worthy new material, Robyn ends a great year on a high note.
With Body Talk Pt. 3, Robyn caps an exceptional run of EPs that combine to form what is hands-down the best dance-pop album of the year. (A compilation of most of these songs, called simply Body Talk, is also available.) At only five tracks, it’s the shortest of the bunch, but it also might be the best, a short, sweet…
Robyn's prolific 2010 culminated with Body Talk, the full-length album that featured songs from the Body Talk, Pt.
Robyn’s Body Talk is one of the year’s finest, most progressive pop albums, but it’s also something of a minor letdown as a standalone project.
The third installment of Body Talk isn't quite what we expected, but it proves to Maddy Costa that Robyn remains endlessly fascinating
