Nobody Safe
Atlanta’s Rich The Kid and Baton Rouge’s YoungBoy Never Broke Again have very little in common stylistically, which is one reason their *Nobody Safe* project works so well. Another is that they have everything in common topically. Throughout the album’s 15 tracks, Rich’s hysteric and charmingly mush-mouthed raps strike a perfect balance against YoungBoy’s wounded howl as the two go back and forth about money, jewelry, guns, and women. Every verse contains a healthy smattering of the four, the MCs free-associating endlessly over production from Wheezy, Murda Beatz, and Louie Bandz, among others. Rod Wave and Lil Wayne show up as guesting MCs, but *Nobody Safe* is wholly the Rich and YoungBoy show, where no one has more fun than the hosts.
The Southern brothers have unleashed an unexpected collaboration. Given their previous successes, its biggest surprise is its mediocrity
Within only a couple months of crowning the Billboard 200 with Top, YoungBoy Never Broke Again released not only the mixtape Until I Return but also this collaborative tape with Rich the Kid, who reached the Top 20 himself earlier in 2020 (with Boss Man, which featured YoungBoy on two tracks).
