ACROPOLIS
Behold, the tale of a man and his journey into temptation and all that is dark... New York based progressive metal trio, QUEEN KONA, present their long-awaited debut full-length album, “ACROPOLIS”, featuring some of the most unique and adventurous content in the metal industry. Similar to their initial EP release, the album is written in a climactic, chronological and story format - each track presents a segment into the tale of a man confronted by his temptations, exploring such and the creatures the lie within the grand castle itself. “The album is intended to be listened to in one entire sitting,” says guitarist Jimmy Mac. “Follow along with its lyrics for a wholesome experience.” QUEEN KONA introduces a fourth vocalist throughout the record featuring clean singing - Jake Meador of Limelight (Pennsylvania) - changing their already-unique sound into something even more extraordinary. The narrative moves as follows: Spanning from a miserable life, our protagonist finds himself intrigued by beauty urging him to escape his mundane reality. He is led to the ACROPOLIS, an entity of enigmatic presence, peaking his interest into unknown territory of pleasure and malignancy. Into the graves, he falls, becoming one with the dead as a reanimated corpse. Cursed by his temptation, he seeks an antidote. His journey begins throughout the corridors, finding samples needed for his concoction of revival. As commanded by the very necromancer who cursed him, he is to visit the various creatures housed in this castle and inherit their curses as well: The wolf - a man fallen victim to a promise of Satanic power. The assassin - yearning for revenge and eternal life, using his earnings to become vampiric forever. The victims - those punished for their sinfulness through the Bubonic Plague. Sorceresses conjure his remedy back into humanity, the very form he sought to escape. Finally, he seeks elucidation. But, perhaps the explanation he sought was that very escape from the norm itself.
