Clash 6/10 Madcap, unrestrained dynamism was PIXIES' whole deal in their late-80s-early-90s heyday. Their avant-garde singularity and biblical vagary solidified

The Observer 4/5 The cult indie band may not have the dark fire of yesteryear but they still rock their twisted tropes

Loud and Quiet 6/10 Doggerel by Pixies: it's not up there with their best work, but this is the best post-reunion Pixies album by a long way

Pop Matters 5/10 Pixies' 'Doggerel' switches between rock and folk drastically. The crisp production perfectly serves this dynamic, but for foggy ideas and fabricated whimsy.

The Irish Times 4/5 The Boston band show no decline in quality and depth on this tight and venomous eighth album
