Light As Leaving

the first of two small collections of songs written and recorded after yellow house. after three consecutive albums working at a certain sound i wanted to give myself space to experiment without expectations & introduce fresh ideas. on this one, i pushed myself to try some things i couldn't seem to get right in the past, while drawing from a lot of what i'd learned recording the last album. the title is from some lyrics i ended up scrapping, but the phrase stuck with me enough to attach itself to these songs. this phase of living is a constant process of moving and leaving. moving in and out of homes, working different jobs. many of the people i'm closest with are gone much of the year. everything can feel weightless and transitory when that kind of permanence is absent. but then, i feel like that's something you look back on with intense nostalgia later in life, everything is weird that way. email me if you can't afford/want to talk [email protected]
