Created by accident and refined by design, 'Outside The Ride' sees Okzharp moving forward with a new amalgam of speedy music that explores a chimera of South African Gqom, turn-of-the-century Techstep and Footwork. 'Outside the Ride' builds on his last EP for Hyperdub, which was a collaboration with DJ Lag. The music on this release was borne out of a 127 bpm gqom-influenced soundtrack created for a short film. That track didn't quite fit the pace of the film until Okzharp turned the tempo up to 156 bpm. This re-engineered track inspired the creation of a whole clutch of new tracks, transplanting elements of other music at that tempo; hypnotic chants, hazy hooky synth glimmers, lo-res slithers of ice-cold Gqom-funk, Juke claps, Footwork 808s and the dark psychedelic atmospheres of early Techstep, all underpinned by his characteristic frayed emotive textures and fxs. Okzharp has found some new shapes on this exciting release.

Okzharp's 'Outside the Ride' is a mesmerizing collection of songs, electronic music with dense layers and complex rhythms that evoke a moody, futuristic world.
