Sisters
Odd Nosdam’s *Sisters* is richly layered ear candy built from record store arcana. A needle skipping over scratchy vinyl wafts through much of the set, whether the work is percussive like “Bow They Will!!!”—rap break pounding beneath clanging hi-hats and plunking piano—or ambient like the title track, an aria of droning organ and sampled choir. Toying with New Age haze and post-rock drama, the Bay Area producer assembles dreamlike hip-hop and electronic experiments that sound slightly out of focus, unfurling like a happy accident from the turntable spun too slow.
Once known as one of the primary architects of the Anticon sound, Odd Nosdam has largely explored other pastures since his last album for the label, 2009's T.I.M.E. Soundtrack.
