Conor Mason’s voice is a mighty weapon. The Nothing but Thieves vocalist has the bombast of classic rock forefathers but takes care to hold back and occasionally reveal some Jeff Buckley-taught sensitivity. This debut isn’t powered exclusively by precocious falsetto, however. It opens with “Excuse Me”’s swooping melodrama and beefs itself up with stadium-sized choruses on “Wake Up Call” and “Trip Switch” before lowering the lights on torch songs “Lover, Please Stay,” and “Honey Whiskey.” It’s an album fit for filling stadiums.
