Corrido tumbado

At first glance at the cover for *Todo Es Diferente*, Natanael Cano presents more like a fresh-faced Latin trap star than a regional Mexican sensation. Yet within seconds of hearing him dodge the rhythmic tuba bleats and guitar flourishes of “Y Qué,” his banda bonafides prove undeniable. His somewhat nasal delivery suits him quite well on the forbidding single “Soy el Diablo” and the accordion-accented “Con un Porte Fino.” Drug talk frequently comes to the fore, as on the purp paean “El de la Codeina,” one of a handful of duets with fellow cantante Ruben Figueroa, along with “El Gryffindor,” which finds Cano singing the praises of sativa and its inherently relaxing effects.
