Mysie’s Apple Music Home Session is so intimate it can make listening feel like eavesdropping on a private conversation. “I absolutely loved doing the stripped-back versions of these tracks,” the London singer-songwriter tells Apple Music of re-approaching “Over Time” and “Don’t Take It Personal,” both taken from her 2021 EP *Undertones*, accompanied only by a Roland piano and her guitar. “It gives the songs so much depth. The meaning of them came from totally different spaces within my relationships; those moments you want to be alone and away from your partner juxtaposed with the moments when you realign and reconnect with them and the relief you feel from that.” Next, she serves up a ruminative cover of Empire of the Sun’s “We Are the People” (“The words resonate with me so much, and I could never get enough of that song”). Released as the UK eased out of lockdown in May 2021, this Home Session allowed Mysie to reflect on the time she has spent at home. “2020 and 2021 have been enlightening,” she says. “I’ve learned to really go within, and search inside rather than finding something externally. I’ve reconnected with my roots, my past, and my heritage in this time, and I couldn’t be more proud. It’s been such a beautiful journey.” Still, she’s ready to get back on that stage. “It’s going to be a vibe. I’m coming back with a different energy.”
