Interstate

originally released in 1999 this second Monolake album on Robert Henke's own label did age extremely well. Colorful and vibrant tracks reflect the abundance of influences that shaped Monolake's music, from techno to drum&bass , ambient to acousmatic music and electro. This album is also the last one composed in equal parts by Robert Henke and Gerhard Behles, who afterwards entirely focused on running Ableton, which is also not the worst thing possible :-)

A worthy follow-up to one of the best full-lengths of Berlin's experimental camp, Interstate continues in the pulse vein but breaks up all hints of the flowing trance states on HongKong by attaching waves of distortion apparently grabbed from Autobahn source recordings.
