Amanda Warner, has said she had to fight music-industry heads throughout the recording of her 2012 debut album, *Feed Me Diamonds*, produced by Peter Wade and mixed by Tony Maserati (Lady Gaga, Beyoncé). Her unbending approach to songcraft paid off, starting with the dark and arresting electro-pop opener, “#1 in Heaven,” where she gets inside the head of Patty Hearst and writes from her point of view. Equally inspired by Henry Ford and Steve Jobs, “Faster Horses” pulses on a wobbling bass hook (without succumbing to full-on dubstep) while musing on two uncompromising innovators. If you’re looking for a bona fide club hit, \"U.B.C.L.\" is a pulsing and seductive jam that begs for multiple remixes by A-list production luminaries. The tune also spotlights Warner’s versatile voice, as does the outstanding title track. “Feed Me Diamonds” may seem to be an uplifting pop song on the surface, but it pays tribute to Serbian performance artist Marina Abramovíc, whose politically active father was assassinated in Yugoslavia by being force-fed diamonds.
