With 2010’s *Mixxxes Of The Molé*, Ministry’s 2004 album *Houses of the Molé* gets the remix treatment. The original incarnation of their ninth studio album was conceptualized to protest the George W. Bush administration and the Gulf War — and while that sentiment still runs hot in this Obama-era remixed offering, it’s remixxxer Erie Loch’s innovative edits that take center stage. *Houses of the Molé* returned to the feral hardcore fury last heard on 1989’s *The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste*, and *Mixxxes of the Molé* keeps all the sharpened speed-metal leads and rapid-fire rhythms intact while infusing a brutal onslaught of beats that are more conducive to the dance floor. “No W (Adrenalenema Mix)” unleashes punchy beats and apocalyptic sirens that worm their way around the original foundation before hoisting it off the ground and into the stratosphere. Loch beefs up the bass on “Worthless (Get to da Choppa Mix)” while nudging the guitar’s attack to the front, making for a steroidal revamp. New song “Bloodlines” harkens back to vintage industrial of the early ‘90s.
