That Matchbox Twenty has only released three official studio albums hasn’t discouraged the group from stacking up platinum plaques, with enough singles to fill a 2007 greatest hits collection (*Exile on Mainstream*) and be anointed one of the most popular bands of the late ‘90s/early ‘00s. *North* is its first new studio album in 10 years, written in a house in Nashville. Rob Thomas and company continue MB20’s legacy of charged pop, lyrical and melodic contraptions, and solid hooks.
