Not only was *Reanimation* a full-scale remix of 2000’s *Hybrid Theory* (instead of a few throwaways tacked onto a bonus edition), but it also gave a boost to producers and MCs who might’ve never reached the band’s audience otherwise: The Roots’ Black Thought (“X-Ecutioner Style”), Evidence and DJ Babu of Dilated Peoples (“H! Vltg3”), The Alchemist (“Frgt/10”). In that sense, take it as a sign of the band’s commitment to hip-hop. But also take it as evidence of their willingness to experiment. After all, not everyone with a multi-platinum album on their hands decides to turn it inside out. No surprise that the more they abstract, the more interesting they sound (“Krwlng,” “Ppr:Kut”). *Hybrid Theory*, meet hybrid practice.

Which brings us to Linkin Park's Reanimation, a generous 20-track remix record of their debut Hybrid Theory that the band has vaguely alluded to as their art project.
