Toronto songwriter Lights’ greatest gift is her ability to cloak thoughtful lyricism in catchy dance-pop jams. That prowess is on full display on the thrilling *Skin&Earth*. Her luxuriant voice swoops and zags across a killer hook on “Skydiving,” but she also packs in lines like, “I take the leap without a parachute/\'Cause I can\'t keep my hands away from you,” painting with gorgeous detail where others might settle for a simple topline. “Until the Light” does the same over a beautiful tropical beat. And while a track like “Savage” might switch gears with a strutting rock riff, it’s no less sensual or invigorating.
