More Best of Leonard Cohen
Released in 1997, *More Best of Leonard Cohen* focuses on his three most recent releases at the time: 1988’s *I’m Your Man*, 1992’s *The Future*, and 1994’s *Cohen: Live* with the addition of two previously unreleased bonus cuts in “Never Any Good” and “The Great Event.” (Considering that his first \"greatest hits\" collection—*The Best of Leonard Cohen*—had focused on Cohen’s first four albums, two studio albums are left without any representation to date.) Here, live versions of “Dance Me to the End of Love” and “Hallelujah” bring attention to Cohen’s *Various Positions* album via the *Cohen Live* album, while a concert version of “Suzanne” provides one more way to include Cohen’s signature song. “The Great Event” is a bizarre minute-long piece, while “Never Any Good” demonstrates Cohen’s lighter side. As for “Everybody Knows,” “I\'m Your Man,” “Tower of Song,” “Democracy,” “The Future,” and “Closing Time”? They’d make any singer/songwriter a formidable one. For Leonard Cohen, it’s further proof of his inarguable greatness.
