Led Zeppelin (Deluxe Edition)

This landmark self-titled debut album was issued in January 1969 and has sold more than 10 million copies. From the opening blast of “Good Times, Bad Times,” it’s apparent that Led Zeppelin are a serious new force. The layered acoustic-electric tones heard throughout on songs like “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You,” “Dazed and Confused,” “Your Time Is Gonna Come,” and “Communication Breakdown” confirm the band’s complexity and grand ambitions. This 2014 deluxe edition begins guitarist Jimmy Page’s remastering program of the entire Zep catalog and features an extensive bonus: a previously unreleased performance recorded on Oct. 10, 1969, at the Olympia Theatre in Paris. An epic 15-minute version of “Dazed and Confused” indicates how early in the band’s career this song became a concert centerpiece. “Heartbreaker” and “Moby Dick” would appear on *Led Zeppelin II*, released later in the month. “White Summer/Black Mountain Side” bring Page’s Yardbirds days into his then-present work. It\'s hard to believe this is just the beginning.

Led Zeppelin reinvented the vocabulary of rock music many times throughout their decade-long career, but their most radical burst of creativity came straight out of the gate.
