Yugen
Taking a step back from his U.K. garage-leaning roots, Koreless engages a more rigid and robotic world with *Yugen*—a release that\'s at once a diversion and a logical progression for the young producer. Almost completely devoid of shuffling percussion (or any percussion, for that matter), *Yugen* is marked by clear references to the video-game soundtrack composers of the 8- and 16-bit era in terms of their limitations in sounds and polyphony. But impressively, Koreless manages to emulate their ability to coax complex and emotive melody from that nominal toolset. Koreless had already carved a niche for himself with his immaculate, minimal productions, but the depth and subtlety on *Yugen* bespeaks an artistic range we\'re only starting to see.
