Hideaway

Kiesza\'s sound is as diverse as her résumé. Having served as a reservist in the Royal Canadian Navy *and* competed in Miss Universe Canada, she played folk ditties before gravitating toward the electronic grooves of her debut EP, *Hideaway*. The release is anchored by the title track, a pulsing house number that hearkens back to the genre\'s early-\'90s heyday, with Kiesza providing the sultry vocals. \"Giant in My Heart\" works a similar template, but \"So Deep\" is a roiling slow jam that morphs into frisky drum \'n\' bass. Stirring the pot further still is the singer\'s cover of Haddaway\'s club classic \"What Is Love,\" which Kiesza renders as an ethereal meditation, complete with swelling strings.
