Behind the Sky

Jon Irabagon's straight ahead follow-up to his 2009 Concord Music release "The Observer," "Behind the Sky" captures Irabagon's long-standing working quartet and their renditions of 11 Irabagon originals. The album was written and conceived during a time of mourning and grieving for the leader, but the songs that emerged, as well as the playing on the entire album, celebrate life and living. Released simultaneously with Irabagon's solo sopranino saxophone recording "Inaction is an Action," "Behind the Sky" signals a new chapter for Irabagon's playing and composition.
