New York City-based singer-songwriter Jesse Harris had the blessing and curse of being a major part of the success for Norah Jones’ 2002 Grammy-winning album *Come Away With Me*, playing guitar and writing the hit “Don’t Know Why.” His own experienced career has taken a slower trajectory, despite Harris’ exemplary musical skills. For 2010, Harris released *Through the Night*, an album showcasing the singer-songwriter and a few months later *Cosmo*, an instrumental album emphasizing his ability to work in a variety of genres. *Night* is a solid effort with Harris’ versatile folk-based vocals working with a variety of acoustic-based atmospheres. The title track, in particular, is evocative of Central Park where the urban cultures meet with the abundance of bucolic greenery. “It’s a Long Way Just to Say Hello” and “Gone Without a Sound” gently flow like exceptional tunes from the Paul Simon songbook. “What Am I Doing Out Here” adds the crisp spark of a pop backbeat. *Through the Night* is an album made for people who think they don’t write them like this anymore.
