Invisible Pictures

On his first two albums, Jeremy Ivey offered up pointed pop-rock critiques of the world around him, often with a humorous edge and a healthy dose of self-awareness. With *Invisible Pictures*, though, Ivey turns inward, crafting pop-rock hooks around stories of identity, mortality, and coming of age, inspired, in part, by time spent isolating with his family during COVID-19 lockdown. Highlights include a co-write with his wife Margo Price, “Keep Me High,” whose chorus delightfully recalls the complex harmonies of Brian Wilson, and “Orphan Child,” a deceptively vulnerable, endlessly catchy rocker inspired by Ivey’s experience growing up with foster parents.
