“I like it, I’m 25,” IU sings on the title track of *Palette*, before adding (in Korean), “I think I know a little bit about myself now.” This mature outlook radiates from the K-pop singer’s entire album. Supported by feature appearances from friends G-Dragon and Oh Hyuk (오혁), IU is in her comfort zone here, sounding as cool and confident singing delicate, string-laden ballads like “Ending Scene” and “Through the Night” as she does purring atop the synthy disco stomp of “Jam Jam.”
