On Departure
I'm not sure whether this will be my last album under this name, but I wanted it to be a conclusion to something. A lot of the issues I dealt with at the time of my previous releases are no longer part of my life, so I wanted to shed that in a way. This is also the first IIP album featuring vocals that are not mine (although the speaking on the final track is my voice). This album is the result of several projects being combined into one, a blending of the sounds used in my past work with those that I've wanted to cover for a long time. A few of these songs are a direct callback to my first few tracks, and a few are mostly unlike what I've done before. The "choir" in the last track is pulled from my first EP. I wanted it to be a full circle thing. There have been several iterations of this album created in the time since releasing Somatic, and I feel that this one is the one that encapsulates what I was aiming to create. It's still mostly ambient, but it amplifies the sounds I've hinted at in previous works. Most of the tracks on this album are about a process of recovery, instead of isolation or suffering in itself. Thank you to all of my followers and friends, all of the lovely musicians I know and am inspired by, and to Franek (the world's biggest Bladee stan (he requested that I put that specifically)). I hope you all enjoy, this is easily the proudest I've been of a project since Portraits of a Stranger (which is referenced in the third track, in case anyone didn't catch onto that).
