Shaghara Lemoune

"shaghara lemoune", arabic for lemon tree, is the debut full length project from egyptian-american bassoonist and producer yousef el-magharbel. eleven songs entirely made on bassoon—harmonies, bass, drums, everything. shuffling nimbly through jazz, r&b, and beats, yousef’s album is a window into egyptian family life and culture. he uses the motif of a lemon tree in the backyard of his family home to explore vernacular expressions + dynamics (between self & others) that reflect his upbringing and ecology. written, recorded, mixed, & produced by yousef el-magharbel mastering: zeroh front cover: zekkereya el-magharbel executive production + design: yousef hilmy minaret records 2021
