Routines
After a run of excellent, home-recorded EPs, Indiana’s Hoops stepped into a proper studio for the first time to make their debut album. Cleaning up the hiss and distortion may have lessened their ramshackle charm, but it also accentuates the gorgeous melodies at the heart of their hazy psych-pop, particularly on the urgent, jangling “Rules” and the bittersweet “Burden.” Sun-bleached reverie persists throughout, but sparkling guitar and synth patterns ensure *Routines* is always hypnotizing.
The lo-fi bedroom rock project from Indiana brings smooth guitar licks into clearer focus with their Fat Possum debut, a light and bright collection of weaving, winding psych-pop.

Hoops are a pleasant break from the norm, indie easy-listening, escapism when it’s arguably needed most.

We are lucky to live in an era where great dream-pop revival artists are abundant.
