Wasted: The Prequel

A six-track EP composed of highlights from Gucci’s legendary 2008-09 mixtape run, *Wasted: The Prequel* makes a concise case for the prolific rapper’s iconic status. Gucci floats over Drumma Boy’s springy “Photoshoot” beat and makes the most of Zaytoven’s Southern-smoke organs on “Bricks,” with a simple but totally charismatic hook. Best of all is the title track, a triumphant, to-the-point party anthem that recalls Gucci and OJ Da Juiceman’s all-time great collaborations.
