Sessions
When G Herbo gets in the booth, he can’t help but spit truth. As such, you won’t find any lighthearted punchline bars on this brief yet forceful outing from the Chicago rapper who came up in drill and continues to forge his own singular path. From the existential urban horror of “Can’t Sleep” to the Zaytoven-produced elegy “My Bro’s a Legend,” he gives and gives of himself via ominous and intimate verses. Violence lurks around nearly every street corner, booming through “Remember” and swerving all over “I Want It.” With a baleful trap beat by frequent collaborator Southside, “That Boy” sees Herbo reflecting on his survival and success.
G Herbo is a product of this system and understands the realities of his environment and the associated PTSD that comes with it.
