Fousheé’s music garnered a lot of attention when a sample of her song “Deep End” went viral on TikTok in 2020. Since then, the New Jersey singer-songwriter and Apple Music Up Next artist has collaborated with Lil Wayne not once but twice, released a collection of singles, and now, finally, presents her highly anticipated debut *time machine*. The nine-track project showcases reimagined hip-hop drums and acoustic guitar riffs laced underneath airy vocals. The opening title track invites listeners to go on a journey with the singer through some of her thoughts, emotions, and anxieties: “Running the race/Could you stand in my place?/Got anxiety/Can I borrow your time machine?” Throughout her project, Fousheé encourages a balance between her slow, intimate introspective side and uptempo bangers. On “my slime,” Fousheé navigates the euphoric feeling of finding a new crush/partner in crime: “You’re my slime/My partner in crime/We just blew a day but you’re still on my mind/Let’s go to Paris sometime.” Just as revelatory is her cover of Depeche Mode’s “enjoy the silence,” which turns the synth-heavy anthem into a sultry, haunting R&B tune.

After a viral sample made her feathery vocals famous, the singer-songwriter arrives on her own terms with a debut that flits effortlessly between guitar-based soul, alt-pop, and R&B.
